Pull a leaf off the hedge. Look what is inside it.
At 60x the flat green surface turns into a wall of cells, stacked like paving stones, each one outlined. They will want to check every plant in the garden to see whether it does the same thing.
Leaf cells
A wall of paving stones at 60x.
Insect wing
Scales you cannot see with your eyes.
Salt crystals
Straight off the kitchen table, at 120x.
There is one step.
Hold it over the thing. Look through the top. That is the whole instruction manual. The dial runs 60x to 120x, and everything it needs is built in, including the light.
Four things, straight out of the box.
No batteries to buy, no app, no setup.
1Magnifies 60x to 120x
Plant cells and insect wings come up sharp, with nothing to set up first.
2Hold it against anything
Indoors or out, on a leaf or a table. No slides and no preparation.
3Its own LED
Hedge bottoms, shade and cloudy days still work. The light is built in.
4Four inches tall
Small enough for a coat pocket, and it survives being carried everywhere.

My kid loves this
We brought the Groovd Miniscope to the backyard and my kids spent ages looking at sand. I especially like that it gives us something fun to do together. Great for any kid who likes asking "what is that?"
Fun for the whole family
I originally got this for my kids, but honestly I have had just as much fun looking through it. We have checked out bits of bark, soil, and whatever else we can find. Anything that makes them forget about the iPad for a while is a win for me.
My kid loves this
We brought the Groovd Miniscope to our garden and my kids spent ages looking at pollen. I especially like that it gives them a reason to explore. It is now permanently sitting by the back door.
So many things to inspect
Such a simple idea, but it has been a huge hit here. My 7-year-old started with the edge of a pinecone and then wanted to inspect seeds too. It encourages them to slow down and really look. Such a nice way to spend time together outside.
Great little microscope
I like that this is small enough to bring with us instead of being a big science kit that stays on a shelf. My 6-year-old used it on moss during the trail behind our house and was completely absorbed. It makes our walks last twice as long. It took a few minutes to get the hang of focusing, but after that it was easy.
Better than another screen
I originally got this for my 6-year-old, but honestly I have had just as much fun looking through it. We have checked out a ladybug wing, clover, and whatever else we can find. Such a nice way to spend time together outside.
Great little microscope
I wanted something portable that could make nature more exciting. My son started with leaves and then wanted to inspect grass too. It gives them a reason to explore. I would absolutely pick this over another noisy electronic toy.
So many things to inspect
I originally got this for my son, but honestly I have had just as much fun looking through it. We have checked out feathers, pieces of wood, and whatever else we can find. Simple, portable, and genuinely fun. It took a few minutes to get the hang of focusing, but after that it was easy.
So many things to inspect
My daughter usually asks for a screen after school, so I was happy to find something different. Now she grabs the Miniscope and heads to camping trips to look at things like a butterfly wing we found. It feels more like exploring than learning, which I love.
Makes science fun
One of the better screen-free purchases we have made lately. My daughter gets excited to search for something new, and even simple tree bark becomes interesting under the Miniscope. Simple, portable, and genuinely fun.
Actually gets used
My 5-year-old usually asks for a screen after school, so I was happy to find something different. Now they grabs the Miniscope and heads to the park to look at things like pebbles. It has made outside time much easier to suggest.
A fun learning toy

The questions we get
Will it survive a five year old?
It is made to be carried in a coat pocket and handled by small hands. If it doesn't suit your child, you have 60 days to send it back.
What will they actually look at?
Leaves, insect wings, salt, sand, fabric, anything they can hold it against. At 60x a leaf turns into a wall of cells.
Does it work if they wear glasses?
Turn the dial until the picture is sharp. The dial runs from 60x to 120x.
What age is it right for?
Ages 3 and up. The youngest ones like an adult to hold it steady at first.
Does it need batteries?
Everything it needs comes in the box, including the light, so there is nothing to buy before the first use.
